This is a map of Feudal Japan from 1564 to 1573 before it was united in the Tokugawa period. It was published in 1903 by James Murdoch. The map shows the different provinces of Japan and their respective landowners (daimyo). The history of Japan always fascinates me, especially the feudal era. I was drawn to this map due to its colorfulness and descriptive manner of the borders between provinces. It was also around this time Japan began trading with European countries. I don't know how the map was created. However, I assume it is from the creator researching the past of Japan and its many provinces.

Beautiful! How does this map compare to the map of Japan today?
